The month of May 2025 has brought great news for Rieusset: we were awarded the First Prize in rotogravure in the 72nd edition of the Graphic Arts Contest of Catalonia thanks to the project developed for Café Richard. In addition, we also obtained the Second Prize in the sustainability category for our Gelato Classico packaging. These awards come within the framework of the 72nd edition of the Awards of the Graphic Industry and Communication Guild of Catalonia, a historical contest that values the technical quality, creativity and excellence in graphic finishes of projects carried out throughout the Catalan territory.

This year’s edition has had a special meaning for Rieusset, as it marks our return to the event after several years of absence. We did so by submitting a total of five entries, including labels and packaging solutions, reflecting some of the projects we have recently developed. The result could not have been more satisfactory: we were awarded two prizes.

The gala, which took place in Barcelona and featured broad representation from the Catalan graphic arts sector, was attended by Álvaro Jurado (Sales and Business Development Director), Albert Cairol (Operations Director), and Jorge Campos (Prepress Manager), who represented Rieusset during the event and were responsible for going on stage to receive the awards.

First place in rotogravure the Graphic Arts Competition of Catalonia

The project that received the highest award was the design and production of bags for Café Richard, a coffee brand with international prestige. This project was recognized for its execution on a complex polyester medium, where we applied a Paper Touch finish with lacquer, achieving an outstanding result in the simulation of a paper bag both in look and feel.

The combination of technical materials, differential finishes and an elegant design has resulted in a product with a very strong identity and an outstanding user experience. The technical difficulty of the process, especially in the application of the lacquer on polyester without compromising the printing and functionality of the packaging, was one of the aspects most valued by the jury. This award is a recognition of the know-how accumulated over decades at Rieusset, and also of our ability to transfer the values of a brand to the packaging that represents it.

Second place in the sustainability category

Additionally, we were awarded the second prize in the sustainability category for the packaging we developed for Gelato Classico’s organic stick ice cream. This is a primary packaging made of uncoated paper, completely free of plastic and aluminum, which not only guarantees the protection of the product, but also reinforces the eco-friendly image of the brand.

This type of flexible packaging protects the product from light, odors and moisture, while offering an aesthetically appealing solution with low environmental impact. It is the perfect example of how sustainability, graphic quality and functionality can go hand in hand.

72 editions rewarding graphic arts

The Graphic Arts Awards of Catalonia celebrated its 72nd edition, consolidating its position as one of the most important events for the graphic arts sector in our country. This contest recognizes the best graphic products in different modalities, techniques and mediums, with the aim of encouraging technical and artistic excellence among companies and showcasing the full potential of the graphic arts industry. Participating in this competition is a way of measuring the level of excellence against the current standards of quality, innovation and market demands. In this edition, more than 350 professionals gathered to share a unique evening of recognition, inspiration and celebration of a job well done.

These awards are organized by the Graphic Industry and Communication Guild of Catalonia, an entity with more than 100 years of history that represents and promotes the interests of the graphic sector. Its work in training, dissemination of good practices and promotion of innovation has been key to the evolution of the graphic arts in our environment.

For Rieusset, being part of the ecosystem promoted by the Guild is a way to contribute to the growth of the entire industry, learning and sharing with other companies that, like us, are committed to continuous improvement.
