Sustainability Balance for the gerosa group

For a second consecutive year, the GEROSA group has prepared and voluntarily certified its sustainability balance, drafted according to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Sustainability Reporting Standard which we make available to interested parties on our website: www.gerosagroup.com

The value of GEROSA as a group is strategically connected to the economic and social value that we are capable of generating. Thus, in our day to day operations, the activities we carry out are focused towards this objective, and during the year 2019 many of them centered on sustainability. We would like to highlight the vast research and development activity we have carried out in order to respond to the environmental challenge of designing more sustainable packaging, and furthermore, the new concept of the Circular Economy has brought us to collaborate with customers, suppliers, associations, research centers and universities to gather all the skills necessary for carrying out this project.

We should also mention that within the GEROSA group, and at Rieusset in particular, projects have been implemented that reach from corporate wellness (the Healthy Company project) or the equality plan to the minimization of the environmental impact. Among the latter, Rieusset has worked towards reducing its energy consumption –electricity, gas or water– with a special mention to the project of installing solar panels whereby we were able to achieve that our plant’s electricity consumption now comes 100% from renewable energy sources. Additionally, we have begun programs for returning packaging to suppliers and for recovering production waste.

The GEROSA group also has an Ethics Code based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the principles of Labor Organization (ILO), the principles of Global Compact and on the guiding principles of the OECD for multinational companies.

Furthermore, more than two years ago we adopted an Organization and Management Model in accordance with the provisions of article 31 bis of the Penal Code, which establishes the applicable regulations, the structure of the Model, the Company’s control environment, the information and communication, and the supervision and monitoring activity, as well as the risk assessment and the main principles of behavior that prepare each company in the group against any attempted crime that could be committed and guaranteeing customers that they will never have a lack of supply due to this.

Our commitment

In order to achieve the integration of sustainability within the company’s strategy, we have defined the organization’s governance model, and

· we have developed the materiality matrix of theGEROSA group, in which it is established what is important for the interested parties in line with what is important for the group.

We should also point out that the GEROSA group collaborates with the association CEFLEX which promotes sustainability for the flexible packaging sector, and which includes among its objectives the study and development of the circular economy.

All this, together with innovation and product safety, the personal growth of the people that make up the GEROSA group, their well-being in a safe workplace that favors diversity and avoids any type of discrimination, and above all, environmental management, make Rieusset and the GEROSA group a strategic partner for all their customers, one where they will find the solutions to their needs.
